Snowshoe Hike On The Shamans Footsteps
Experience the northern winter night with our snowshoe hike to the former holy fell of Sami's. This tour leads you through the snowy forest trail to the top of the fell, where you can enjoy the feeling of the northern nature. If the weather conditions are right at night, the dancing northern lights and the clear star sky will light up our way to the top. You will hear facts about the northern nature and its wildlife. On the top we’ll enjoy coffee or tea and a sweet bun.

Army Forest Skiing - Conquest Of The Winter Paradise
Discover the nature of Kuusamo with legendary army forest skis. Join our skiing trip on a great lake. Get to know how the trappers, hunters, soldiers, timber jacks etc. used to go around in previous days and in some cases also nowadays in wild Finnish nature. Try a piece of Finnish history on your feet. After a short skiing we reach a beautiful little island where we will enjoy the coffee and snack by open fire.

With the SkiBus to the Kuusamon Uistin spoonbait factory where we will visit the factory shop and try jig fishing on the pond close to the factory. Your guide will explain
the winter net fi shing techniques and you can try ice fishing with the jig. We will have a hot juice break on the bond.
After the fishing we will visit the Factory shop of Kuusamon Uistin, where you have the possibility to buy Finnish souverirs. You will get -10% of the products (does not include offers or second class quality).

Fishermans Tour: winter fishing with net & jig and snowshoeing
First a nice snowshoewalk to the ice-fishing place. Your guide will explain and show the winter net fishing techniques and after that you can try ice fishing with the jig. Your guide will show you also all the fishing gear that's needed for getting the net under the ice and you will get an exact explanation at the end of that program. This program is very suitable also for children and families. We will have a hot juice brake with bun on the lake.

Meet the huskies and take a ride with these arctic animals!
You can ride alone or take your friend with you. Experience the wild nature with the sledge dogs. Imagine the beautiful, snowy forest around you. You work together with the kind and strong huskies. It is so silent that all you can hear is your sledge runners running on the snow. First we tell you about the sledge dogs and we will show you how to ride a husky-team. Then we are ready to start a safari of your dreams. Normally there are two persons per sledge. After the safari we enjoy a cup of coffee around a campfire in our Lappish Kota.

Reindeer Sledge Ride and Visit To The Reindeer Farm
Get to know the life of reindeer and their habits and have a memorable reindeer sledge ride (5 km or 1,5 km). After a ride we will enjoy a cup of coffee/tea with a local sweet bun. These trips are available during the winter season by request for group min. 4 adults. Transfer by taxi from Sokos Hotel Kuusamo, Kuusamon Tropiikki or Ruka central square.

Santa Claus program
Meeting Santa & Mrs. Claus - Fun Day at Santa's cottage
Pick up from Hotels Rukahovi, Sokos and Tropiikki. Transfer to Vuotunki village (30 mins one way), which is located in Eastern Kuusamo, very close to the Russian border. Once you arrive, you are very warmly welcomed to the cottage by one of Santa's helpers. Before meeting Santa we enjoy tobogganing and grilling sausages by open fire. Please remember to dress up warmly! Santa and Mrs. Claus then invite their guests into their cottage, where Santa nominates all children as his helpers. Inside the country side house children will help Mrs. Claus to bake ginger bread cookies and sweet buns, make Christmas cards and do some other Christmas chores. Cookies and homemade berry juice are served. A small post office opens up its doors so that the self made greeting cards can be sent to loved ones back home. There is plenty of time to chat with Santa and take pictures. And of course Santa has a small present for each child.
Children of all ages are welcome but children below 6 years are accepted only when accompanied by an adult family member.

Ice-fishing + Snowshoeing + Husky Tour
First a short snowshoe hike on the lake where we will reach the ice fishing place. Your guide will explain and show the winter net fishing techniques and after that you can try ice fishing with the jig. If we get fish, we will prepare and enjoy the fresh fish by open fire. Your guide will show you also all the fishing gear what's needed for getting the net under the ice and you will get an exact explanation at the end of that program. From the lake a nice snowshoe hike through the snowy forest to the husky farm.

Ice-carting
Ice-carting offers you a totally new driving experience! Set in an outdoor ice track and driven by cars with stud tires, it’s anactivity where technical skill beats speed. Still, the icy track might give you a spin. Ice-carting Race has equal elements to areal formula race, but it takes place in an ice rink. First there are warm-up laps, and then a qualification which determinesthe starting grid places at the final. Min height for participants: 140 cm.

Tundra cooking course
Studio Restaurant Tundra presents: a cooking course for gourmands. The restaurant kitchen is buzzing with conversation and laughter. Soon the table will be set for a self-made feast. Today we are making a delicious meal together with Chef de Cuisine Jarmo Pitkänen. He shows us how to get the best flavors out of the gorgeous, northern ingredients. The Chef helps us to prepare a tasty three course meal and after the cooking we will just eat, talk and enjoy the evening. From here you will take many tips with you to try at home.

Sauna Experience
Traditional Finnish Sauna
Let the soft heat of the sauna pamper you and enjoy the peaceful countryside. Our sauna at Pohjolan Pirtti Country House used to be a barn but now hosts three saunas and an outdoor hot tub. Come and spend an evening like the Finns do, by a real sauna bath. The brave ones take a snow bath in between the sauna heat, but for sure everyone will take a bath in the hot tub. Comfortably warm water under the stars…
There is a comfortable lounge area with a fire place for relaxing after the sauna.
